A truly innovative light-weight, hand-held tape dispenser for clear scotch tape. Although I bought this for a family member who has difficulties with regular tape dispensers, I've been using it myself for wrapping and to seal bulky envelopes, because it is so easy and convenient to use. No more dusty tape from the junk drawer (the protective case keeps the roll covered); no more searching for the loose end of the tape and picking at it to get it unstuck; and no more tangled or over-dispensed tape. The gun-style dispenser has a little trigger you pull to dispense the tape - about a half-inch segment with each click. When you have the length of tape you want, slide the bar on top to cut it cleanly. By holding the trigger down, you can stick and despense a long strip of tape by dragging along the area that needs taping, releasing the trigger, then cutting off. All of this can be done one-handed, allowing you to hold paper down, or, for volunteer gift-wrappers, stick short strips of tape on your fingertips or the edge of a table for fellow wrappers to use.

I love this so much, I even bought a few for my charity group, which wraps packages in the mall during the holidays. Although a little pricey, it can be refilled with standard magic tape refills up to 3/4 inch wide and up to 1,025 inches long. You may be able to refill it with other standard 1 inch core transparent tapes, but I haven't tried. Since my group buys magic tape in bulk, that, along with the controlled dispensing, should prove very economical. Hopefully it will speed up our wrapping, too.

My only minor trouble was with re-filling. If I'd read the instructions first, though, I would have realized to keep the tape BELOW the blue guide bar when closing the case. Otherwise, just open, drop in the refill, feed the tape through the mouth, and close.

Pros: quick, easy, measured tape dispensing in a protective, light-weight design. Uses standard-sized tape refills.
